What Does a Special Education Advocate Do?

A Special Education Advocate assists families in navigating the complex educational system to ensure their child receives appropriate services. At Mountain Pass Consulting, we bridge the gap between parents and schools by:

  • Interpreting complex educational assessments and evaluations.
  • Attending IEP (Individualized Education Program) and 504 team meetings.
  • Ensuring the school district follows state and federal special education laws (IDEA).
  • Developing data-driven goals using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.

Serving Leominster and Worcester County Families

Located in Leominster, MA, we understand the specific landscape of Massachusetts school districts. Whether your child is transitioning from Early Intervention or requires a more robust IEP in high school, we provide local, personalized support.

Common Questions About Special Education Advocacy

Do I need an advocate for my child's IEP meeting?

If you feel unheard by the school team, or if you are unsure if your child's IEP goals are effective, an advocate can provide the objective expertise needed to secure better outcomes.

How can Mountain Pass Consulting help with a 504 plan?

We review your child's medical or behavioral needs and collaborate with the school to implement accommodations that remove barriers to learning, ensuring the 504 plan is legally compliant and effective.

What is the difference between an IEP and a 504 plan?

An IEP (Individualized Education Program) provides specialized instruction for students with disabilities, while a 504 plan provides accommodations to ensure equal access to education. We help you determine which path is right for your child.
